Obsidian

Obsidian

A work that displays a female figure in the dilapidated basement of an older building (late 19th- early 20th century). It is intended to go against the traditional Gaze of female objectivity. The title, Obsidian, serves as a metaphor for the act of going into one’s darkness to create a vitreous and sturdy material, just like obsidian as an igneous rock comes from within the earth, initially as liquid lava.
